Are you a QLD-based small business (less than 20 employees) retailer looking to invest in a new POS system or ecommerce platform? Well you may be eligible to get your investment match-funded by the Queensland Government’s Small Business Digital Grants Program. Matched funding of up to $10,000 (excluding GST) may be provided to eligible businesses for the purchase of hardware, software and services.

So what can the QLD digital grant be used for? The core requirement is that you must be able to demonstrate the digital technology or service purchased will improve the digital capabilities of your business and help you become more competitive. One potential opportunity is to invest in a new POS system to inject new sales, marketing and operational capabilities into your business and dramatically improve your profitability. Upgrading to modern cloud POS software could help you to introduce new sales and service best practices in-store, optimise your inventory management and run personalised marketing campaigns. Another avenue is to invest in a new ecommerce platform. This could allow your business to grow revenue potential and provide your shoppers with the multi-channel experience they now demand.

To fully deliver these benefits, make sure you look at an ecommerce platform that is tightly integrated with your POS system. To be eligible for the grant your business must:

  • have fewer than 20 employees at the time of applying for the grant
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST
  • have Queensland headquarters
  • have a turnover of $2 million or less in the last financial year
  • not be insolvent or have owners or directors that are an undischarged bankrupt.

Applications for the latest round of the QLD small business digital grant close on 11th April 2018.
